The schedule for the 2002 season has already been approved. It includes 12 starts, but their distance has been increased a little. Now the distances start from 250 km and end at 1000 km. The competitions will begin on 15 May and will last until the end of June. The takeoffs will happen every Saturday and Sunday. The destination is Brest.

The flights are regulated by programmed electronic rings. Each pigeon starts its flight from a certain point called chute. During the flight a computer system tracks the bird and records it time. As soon as the pigeon reaches the destination, it returns to the center club. The computer system analyses the data and gives out the final scores.

The points are calculated considering 20% of the pigeons that took part in the competition. Some birds get sealed during the competition. And part of the results is recorded. The results of a competition reveal the preparedness of the pigeons and whether they have been bred properly.

A pigeon's quick recovery from the competition shows the quality of its race. If a bird has been properly prepared, its muscles recover quickly from fatigue.
